Exportslachthuis De Coster NV (51 and 51/2) is a modern abattoir located in the middle of the Belgian pig production region with a history on the European meat market. Every year, over 1.3 million pigs are slaughtered. In addition to pig carcasses and pork, various edible by-products such as pigs’ heads, ears and trotters, are oered for sale. In addition, Exportslachthuis De Coster has on-site freezer capacity. Exportslachthuis De Coster NV is a member of Danis Pork Masters, which is part of the Danis Group, the Belgian market leader in the production of feed and pigs. Belgian Meat Office coordinates pork and beef export activities. This meat export agency was founded in 2003 under Flanders’ Agricultural Marketing Board (VLAM) umbrella. VLAM is a non-profit organisation promoting the sale, the added value, the consumption and the image of products and services of the Flemish agriculture, horticulture, fishery and agro-alimentary sector in Belgium and abroad. It is commissioned by the business community and by the Flemish government and cooperates actively with as many links in the food chain as possible.
